How to Repair A Damaged HDMI Connector? Here are detailed steps

HDMI cables provide a unique solution for sending HD video and audio from one device to another. Those who have HDMI cables installed on the wall may not have the option of reparing them. So you can have a try to fix it. You will need some tools that are available in most homes, as well as supplies from electronics shops.

1, Use the blade of a hobby knife to cut the connector off one end of the HDMI cable. Throw the connector in the trash.

2, Use the blade of a hobby knife to cut 15 inches from the cut end of the outer insulation. Peel off the outer insulation, then use a knife to cut it away from the cable.

3, Push back the wire mesh from the cut end until you reach the point where the outer insulation of the cable is still present. Pull the insulation away with your fingers to expose the braided pair of wires above the other four pairs of braided wires. Unwind the two wires from each other.

4, Use the blade of a hobby knife to cut off the disconnected connector end of the HDMI cable. Dispose of the disconnected and cut end of the connector in the trash.

5, Use the blade of a hobby knife to cut eight inches from the cut end of the outer insulation. Detach the outer insulation and cut it from the cable with a knife. Push the netting back from the cut end until you reach the point where the outer insulation of the cable is still present. Use your fingers to peel off the now exposed insulation.

6, Unwind the wire pair over the other four twisted wire pairs. Connect each exposed end of the wire to a slot at the end of the UR connector. Connect the exposed ends of the two HDMI cable wires to the slots at the end of the UR connector.

7, Disconnect the four pairs of wires from the damaged HDMI cable and the HDMI cable. Use a wire stripper to remove half a centimetre of insulation from the ends of the wires. Repeat this process using the UR connector splice to connect the four pairs of wires that were twisted together on the HDMI cable to the four pairs of wires that were twisted together on the damaged HDMI cable.

8, Close the foil over the HDMI cable and slide the wire mesh to cover the wires and the UR splice connector. Wrap strips of electrical tape around the wire mesh of both HDMI cables. This will hold the wires in place and prevent electrical shock.
